Do you ever have those days where you have so much inside that you just want to let it all out? You don’t want to take it out on a poor friend but you just need to tell someone? That’s why I love journaling and using guided journaling prompts. 

Journaling has helped me work through my emotions and has also helped me develop a more positive outlook on things. Never underestimate the power of writing things down. Seriously, writing down your overwhelming negative emotions can suddenly lift a weight off of your shoulders. Similarly, writing down your biggest dreams and goals can bring you that much closer to actually achieving them. 

Sometimes, even though you feel ready to start journaling, you may buy your journal, grab your favorite pen, open to the first blank page, and write….nothing. It may be hard to figure out what to write. If you’re someone who overthinks the journaling process, you may do better with guided journaling prompts. So, if you want to really dive into yourself and embark on a journey towards a more positive mindset, check out these guided journaling prompts. 

I split them up, one per day. You can write as little or as much as you need to answer the question, although I usually like to fill at least one page while I journal.

Daily Journal Prompts

Monday: What’s bothering me today? 

Tuesday: What would make this the perfect day?

Wednesday: What can I personally do to achieve that perfect day? 

Thursday: What are my greatest strengths and how can they support me today? 

Friday: What are 5 things I’m grateful for? 

Saturday: What are some of the best things that have happened to me this year? 

Sunday: What excites me? How can I incorporate more of those exciting things into my daily life?

 

Spend your first week of journaling using these prompts as a guideline. Maybe some of the questions will inspire you to explore other parts of yourself in the coming weeks. Remember, a journal is your own special place to explore your private thoughts. It’s for your eyes only, so be open and honest with yourself. Make it a place where you treat yourself well and never write degrading or negative things about yourself. You want it to make you feel better, but you also want to look back on past entries and see your growth.

Recently I’ve committed to being present, but it’s not easy. I’m still working on that by meditating frequently and reminding myself to be in the here and now. If you want to appreciate the present that you’re currently in and enjoying it for the crazy adventure that it is, this is a great journal for that. It’s guided prompts will help you be present, not worry about being perfect, and give you positive quotes and ideas for things to do that will make today great! 

“Good Days Start With Gratitude”

Gratitude journaling is the best way to appreciate and enjoy your life. In fact, a Harvard health article (https://www.health.harvard.edu/healthbeat/giving-thanks-can-make-you-happier) found that people who wrote down things they were grateful for throughout the week for 10 weeks were more optimistic about their lives, made healthier choices, and were less aggravated than the group that wrote about negative things. Expressing gratitude literally changes your mindset, and it’s so simple! This book has you write 3 things you’re grateful for every day and shares a positive and inspiring quote on each page. 

“Self Care Check-In” 

We all love that self-care! Oftentimes we don’t treat ourselves enough. This journal is the perfect reminder to check in with yourself, focus on your intentions and then helps guide you towards practical change. There are various prompts that ask you to “reflect”, “focus” and then “do.” If you’re looking for a method that will help direct you towards loving and caring for yourself in a more productive way, this is the journal for you. 

Now get out there, go buy a journal and get writing! Remember, you don’t have to write every single day if you don’t want to. However, it might turn into a nice morning or evening habit and you’ll find that it simply becomes a part of your daily routine.
